The locker stalls of LeSean McCoy and Stanley Havili are right next to each other at Lincoln Financial Field. Following the win over the Giants Sunday night, one reporter mentioned Havili’s name. McCoy, within earshot, said, “He was awesome.” To which Havili replied, “Shady the Giant killer!”
There was plenty of praise to go around after a dominant second half on the ground. Here is a look at the back-to-back big gainers early in the third quarter that provided the spark. As you’ll see, Havili was in fact awesome.
Here’s a look at what we saw from the Eagles’ offense after having reviewed the All-22 tape from their win over the Giants Sunday night.
Michael Vick walked off the field gingerly following the Eagles’ 19-17 win over the Giants Sunday night.
“Something happened with my knee on the last drive,” said Vick. “I’m all right though. I’ll be ready for next week. Hopefully.”
While that is enough to bring out some concern, it is heartening to Eagles fans that Vick was not subjected to the inordinate amount of hits that he had endured over the first three games. The Giants managed just three quarterback hits on the night and finished with two sacks. In contrast, the Cardinals hit Vick 13 times in the pocket and the Browns 11 times. It is no coincidence that Marty Mornhinweg dialed up over 100 pass plays between those two games.
Against New York, however, the Eagles ran it 36 times and threw it 30.

Here’s what I saw from the Eagles’ offense after reviewing the All-22 footage from this week.
Before we get started, some overall themes. Number one, the coaches have to take a hit for the game-plan, which was built around the following ideas:
* That DeSean Jackson could get behind the Cardinals’ secondary for big plays.
* That an offensive line with two new guys (Dallas Reynolds and Demetress Bell) would be able to protect Michael Vick well enough to give him time to find receivers way downfield.
* That Vick would hit on the big plays when they were available.
Obviously, not all of those things happened, and hopefully below, you can see why.
When Giants defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora wished LeSean McCoy a Happy Mother’s Day via Twitter back in May, the Eagles running back kept quiet.
But there was a reason for that.
“Now he is lucky that I was going through a contract situation and me and Coach [Andy] Reid are tight,” McCoy said during an E:60 interview that will air tonight on ESPN. “So [Reid] told me, ‘don’t say nothing,’ and I gave my word to him that I won’t say nothing to him … at the time.”
McCoy, of course, signed a six-year, $45.6M contract. And well, with the Eagles set to host the Giants Sunday night, I guess he figured it was time to fire back.
LeSean McCoy shook his head as the question came his way, undoubtedly frustrated by his light workload in Arizona Sunday.
You are considered by many to be a top three back in this league. Only five running plays were called in the first half. What gives?
“Um,” said McCoy, getting his politically-correct response in order. “Sometimes it goes like that. Who knows? If we got more carries or…I don’t live like that. I just go with the plays that are drawn up for us. We just got to do better, man. Simple as that.”
