If you had all the money in the world, we bet you'd take up residence in one of these.

So what do you get for anywhere from $6,000 to $12,000 per month hereabouts?

Well, with one exception, you don’t get a deluxe apartment in the sky. Save for a full-floor condo on the ninth floor of The Lanesborough near Rittenhouse Square, all of the five rentals we found at the top of the heap in each of the five Southeastern Pennsylvania counties are anchored firmly to the ground.

And again with the exception of that condo, which clocks in at a mere 3,422 square feet, they’re all quite spacious. Not as huge as those 10,000-square-foot-plus mansions that sell for eight figures, but plenty large. And they’re all very nicely appointed, regardless of size or location. Herewith, a peek at how the upper crust rent, in descending order of monthly rent:

Montgomery County: 1107 Pugh Rd., Wayne (Upper Merion Township) (above) | 5 beds, 5 full, 1 half baths, 8,332 square feet, $12,000 per month. No pets.

This expansive Mediterranean-style home exudes simple elegance at every turn. Only the finest materials went into its construction: Mahogany trim and stair railings, Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, travertine marble floors in the soaring foyer and great room, marble countertops in the kitchen. That soaring foyer and great room form an interior courtyard of sorts, with only broad arches separating it from the formal living and dining rooms and the master suite sitting room overlooking it. (Juliet balconies from the other bedrooms add to the interior courtyard feel.) The kitchen is a chef’s delight, with professional-quality appliances and fittings and sleek imported Italian cabinetry. The adjacent breakfast room has a bar outfitted with a wine fridge, icemaker and beer fridge with built-in taps. An expansive rear patio and two second-floor balconies provide plenty of space for outdoor relaxation and entertainment as well.

While this home is in Wayne’s zip code, it’s actually closer to King of Prussia, giving you easy access to the region’s best shopping and all the major highways to the city and points beyond.

Philadelphia: 1601 Locust St. #900, Rittenhouse Square | 3 beds, 4 full, 1 half baths, 3,422 square feet, $11,500 per month. Inquire with agent about pet policy.

So what if it’s not on the 29th floor? You can still look out in all directions from this full-floor unit on the ninth floor of the Lanesborough condominium just two blocks from Rittenhouse Square. One side of the floor (the south side, judging from the light streaming through its windows in the photo above) consists of a spacious great room with twin marble-framed gas fireplaces and living and dining areas. Adjacent to the dining room is a chef-quality kitchen with granite countertops, ceramic tile backsplash, stylish cabinets and Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances including a wine fridge. The master suite has its own den plus dual walk-in closets and dual bathrooms with marble floors, vanities and tub surrounds along with frameless glass shower enclosures. A secure elevator whisks you to your private retreat whenever you’re ready to rise above the workaday world or the hustle and bustle of Rittenhouse Square.

Delaware County: 1104 Clover Lane, Glen Mills | 4 beds, 3 full, 1 half bathsk 5,984 square feet, $7,500 per month. Inquire with agent about pet policy.

This home is a vacation resort in itself, situated as it is on a four-acre lot right next to Ridley Creek State Park. In addition to its spacious rear decks, you can enjoy the view of (or relax on) the pond and gazebo that’s on your property. Inside, there’s plenty of space to both relax and entertain all your friends thanks to two open-plan living areas on the main and lower floors. Lots of windows let in lots of light, and again, it whispers instead of shouts elegance.

Shady Grove addition

Chester County: 959 Garrett Mill Rd., Newtown Square | 5 beds, 5 baths, 7,463 square feet, $7,000 per month. Inquire with agent about pet policy.

This expansive property, the largest in our roundup today, is actually two homes in one. The original “home” around which “Shady Grove” is built is a one-room schoolhouse that dates to the 1850s; today it serves as a spacious yet cozy great room with a beamed ceiling and fireplace. This house got a much bigger center-hall Colonial tacked onto it in 2002, turning it into a gracious and elegant space that has everything you need to relax and entertain in style. You’ll find not only a formal living room and dining room but also a kitchen/great room combination just beyond the center entrance hall. The kitchen boasts the best in appliances, cabinetry and features, and the great room has an appealing stone fireplace. There’s also a butler’s pantry connecting the kitchen and the living room; it has its own bar with mini-fridge, sink and glass-front china cabinets. There’s plenty of room for storage and a three-car garage to boot, and the protected land surrounding this home makes it a perfect private escape.

Bucks County: 1636 Wrightstown Rd., Newtown | 4 beds, 3 full, 2 half baths, 7,265 square feet, $6,000 per month. Inquire with agent about pet policy.

Finally, there’s this spectacular retreat on 10 acres surrounded by woods. That’s right, another vacation retreat, about midway between tranquil Yardley and happening New Hope. This contemporary classic has plenty of striking, soaring spaces inside and great spaces for relaxing and entertaining on the rear deck outside. Its kitchen was recently updated with chef-quality equipment and it has a library/den with a wet bar as well. Other great outdoor spaces here include a pool and a pond with fishing pier. There’s also a guest cottage on the property that you can rent for an additional $2,000 per month if you wish.

This home is also listed for sale for $1,449,000.
