You Can Now Book This Insanely Adorable Prosecco Van for Your Philly Wedding

Bubbles on tap is *definitely* the new donut wall.

If you’re planning a wedding and have been on Pinterest or Instagram at all in the past year, chances are highly unlikely that you’ve missed the prosecco van. It’s an adorable vintage Italian vehicle that will drive right up to your wedding and dispense bubbly from taps on the side. Well, it’ll do all of those things if you live in the UK, where the London-based company Bubble Bros was the first to introduce the idea. Womp womp.

Flash forward to this weekend, though, when a delightfully similar-looking vehicle popped up on the Instagram Stories of Philly-area event planner Shannon Wellington as she gave us a behind-the-scenes peek at a Springfield Country Club wedding. We couldn’t believe our prosecco-loving eyes! Could it be? Our very own, East Coast-accessible, prosecco-dispensing vintage Piaggio Ape?

Yes, yes it was. Turns out, the prosecco van in question belongs to The Roving Bar, a Jersey-based company run by Jen and Matt Woolston, who also own and operate wedding photo booth service The VW Booth Bus.

The Roving Bar is a new arm of the Woolston’s business — its first wedding was just a few months ago in July. But that doesn’t make it any less authentic: the Woolstons imported the vintage vehicle from Italy (it was formerly a bread truck), then transported it up to the Northeast by way of Florida. They touched up the original blue shade, and then worked with Noonan Custom to install in three taps along the side. Those taps can be hooked up to either prosecco or beer kegs. (Wine is next on the list.)

Rates for The Roving Bar start at $800 for four hours, which includes vehicle rental, pouring services, and liquor liability insurance. It does not include the actual kegs, which, per Pennsylvania and New Jersey laws, must be purchased separately by the couple, but the Woolstons will pick up and drop off the kegs for you. Travel is included for venues within 40 miles of the 07702 North Jersey area code where the company is based, but runs $3.50 per mile outside of this zone. Jen estimates that will add an additional $200 to $250 for weddings in the Philadelphia area — not exactly cheap, but undoubtedly less expensive than air-freighting the original over from Britain.

Couples may also be surprised to find out how compact the vehicle is — it can easily be brought indoors, and the driving compartment is, according to Jen, actually more scooter-like than car-like. So, no matter your venue, there’s a spot for The Roving Bar’s prosecco van. We like the idea of greeting guests at the ceremony with the service, but, now that it’s finally available on the East Coast, how you use it is entirely up to you!
