If you’re like the majority of newlywed couples, there’s a good chance that your honeymoon (or at least part of it) will be spent on a beach somewhere. Beaches are, after all, a universal symbol of relaxation, which makes the sand, sun and ocean water the perfect companions during your first few married days.

But because it’s your honeymoon and not just your run-of-the-mill vacation, no average beach will do. This trip calls for something really special, like one of the world’s most unique beaches.

Try New Zealand’s Hot Water Beach, where steamy 150 degree mineral water flows beneath the sand and you can dig a hole to create your own little hot tub. Or Croatia’s Zlatni Rat Beach (pictured above), which extends more than a quarter mile into the sea. And lets not forget the miles of luscious colored sand (pink in the Bahamas, black in Hawaii, purple in California and red in Prince Edward Island) that you can sink your feet into, too.
