The Internet Is Going Bonkers for This Harry Potter Cake Made By a Local Philly Baker

It has long been a regret of mine that I have somehow never made it to the Harry Potter Festival held in Chestnut Hill each fall, and today, as I got off the phone with Amy Edelman, owner of Chestnut Hill’s Night Kitchen Bakery, I felt that regret heightened.

Caitlyn Clausen, one of Night Kitchen’s cake decorators, made a cake for the most recent festival, when they turned the bakery into Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop (which HP enthusiasts might remember as a spot where Harry romanced Cho Chang), and then posted it online. It was pretty popular, and all—but this week, Buzzfeed Weddings got a hold of it, and now, well, let’s just say it looks like the Night Kitchen team will be turning out a lot of Harry Potter-themed wedding cakes for the foreseeable future!

As of right now, the picture of the cake has received over 23,000 likes and over 39,000 shares—and Edelman and her team are fielding inquires from London and Iowa and all over the place asking about the cake and their delivery options. Sadly, those folks don’t exactly have a way to get their hands on a Night Kitchen creation this for their event—but hey Philly couples, you do! And since it is not infrequent for us to see Harry Potter-themed weddings (and proposals, for that matter), we have a feeling a few of you reading this just might be interested.

The cake as it’s pictured here would feed about 100 people, says Edelman, at a price of $8 per person. The smallest this exact cake can be made (you wouldn’t want to lose any of those textbooks, after all) is for 50 people, so that should give you an idea of what yours might cost. Edelman also says that they have various Harry cakes on their Facebook page if you love the idea but are curious about what other HP elements could be incorporated.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am definitely making it to next year’s festival.
