Question: We are going to use a wedding photo-sharing app so that we can gather all of our guests’ fun pictures from our reception—but what’s the best way to spread the word and really get people to use it during the wedding? I don’t want to spend the week we get back from the honeymoon texting 200 people to ask them to send us their photos!

Answer: Photo-sharing apps have become increasingly popular with today’s brides and grooms, says Lauren Lerner of Philly’s Lauren James Events, and they’re a great way to get your wedding guests involved in your special day (while making it easier for you to see every photo that’s taken during the party).

Lerner advises couples to choose the photo-sharing app they’ll use for their wedding events and start publicizing it well before your actual wedding day. “Choosing a photo-sharing app in the early stages of planning will allow your friends and family to utilize it at any wedding-related event leading up to the Big Day,” says Lerner, who suggests including the app information on your wedding website where most guests will see it.

Incorporating the details of the app throughout your day, too—whether it’s in the ceremony program or on the bar signage where people will see and remember it while waiting for their drinks—will guarantee that your request won’t be missed. “The more your friends and family see and hear about the app, the more the excitement will build and the more likely they will be to use it.”
