Bride-to-be Blogger Carolyn: My Bridal Skincare Plan

Given that my skin has been a nightmare with this crazy warm/cold winter we’re having, it seems pertinent to talk about some beauty goals I have to get my skin in top shape for my wedding day.

I have combination skin that can be prone to breakouts. I’ve been trying different cleansers to see if I can find one my skin is agreeable with. I haven’t quite found one that I like just yet, but I’m trying to give a fair trial to each that I buy. I even bought one of those automated skin brushes that are so popular … I haven’t been the best about using it regularly, but it certainly has a big enough fan following that I should get on board. I also plan on getting my first facial. I’m a little nervous about it, but I know people who swear by them, so here goes nothing!

I have a feeling that my diet may have a stronger role in how my skin looks than I like to acknowledge, so I’m trying to drink more water and eat healthier, which is not an easy task for me! My fluid intake is generally pretty poor, so I’ve been slowly pushing myself to add more glasses of water each day. I noticed over the summer that when I limit my carbs and eat more vegetables, I have nicer looking skin. This is a huge challenge for me, but I’m thinking I should try to get back on the healthy-eating bandwagon soon, for a variety of reasons. My pizza-laden diet is certainly not making my skin happy right now!

Now, my skin certainly won’t be without some help on the Big Day. I hired Béke Beau, a popular local makeup artist, to come to Delaware to make me up on our wedding day. I did a lot of online research, and she not only has glowing reviews, but also seems to be well versed in how to apply makeup to someone with fair skin and freckles like me without making it look like I’m about to go on stage. At some point in the near future I’m supposed to go in for a trial, so I’ll let you know how it goes!

I’ll keep you posted on how my skincare plans pan out. In the meantime, do you have any tips or tricks you recommend?
