Police Searching for Minivan Driver in MLK Drive Hit-and-Run

Authorities say the driver of a 2003 Kia Sedona fled the scene on foot after striking a motorcycle early Sunday morning.

Philadelphia police are searching for the driver of a minivan involved in a deadly hit and run on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday in West Fairmount Park, according to police. Authorities say the driver of a 2003 Kia Sedona minivan was traveling west on MLK Drive when they attempted to make a left turn and struck an eastbound motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. A 37-year-old woman who was his passengers was listed in critical condition with severe head trauma as of Sunday evening, according to Philly.com.

Police say the minivan driver fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind. No arrests have been reported. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
