Police say they’ve made an arrest in a West Philly homicide that occurred right before the New Year.

Malcolm William, 39, surrendered to police on Wednesday and charged with murder, violations of the Uniform Firearms Act, and related offenses. Investigators say he has a long history of run-ins with the law for drug and gun offenses.

He is accused of killing Seth Fassett, a 57-year-old West Philly resident. Police say that on Dec. 30, they found Fassett lying on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of Redfield Street, injured by a shotgun wound to the chest. He was transferred to Presbyterian Hospital and quickly pronounced dead.

Investigators say they believe Fassett and William argued that day, and that William shot Fassett before fleeing in a minivan.

William is scheduled to face a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Jan. 20. He is being held without bail.
