Man Caught on Surveillance Cameras Stealing Surveillance Cameras in South Philly

First he uses a ladder. Then he comes back with a chair.

Ah, good old South Philadelphia. If they’re not caught on camera stealing Christmas decorations or Halloween decorations, they’re caught on camera stealing surveillance cameras.

The Philadelphia Police Department has released video from an April 26th incident in the Girard Estates section of South Philadelphia in which a man can be seen mounting a ladder and later a folding chair to steal surveillance cameras from a building at the corner of 20th and Porter streets.

According to police, the theft occurred on April 26th at 2:30 a.m. Yes, a quiet time for that neighborhood, but it’s still amazing how brazenly he makes off with his stolen property. Anyone with information is asked to call South Detective Division at 215-686-3013.
