Egg Truck Crash Creates — Ahem — Scrambled Mess on Schuylkill Expressway
Tractor-trailer was carrying load of eggs when it tipped over.
A big rig carrying a load of eggs tipped over on the Schuylkill Expressway this morning, creating a scrambled mess of mechanical parts and yolk on the busy road.
The big rig wrecked on the Schuylkill Expressway (Interstate 76) westbound right past the ramp from the Roosevelt Boulevard in the Wynnefield Heights section of the city around 1 a.m.
The tractor-trailer tipped over spilling eggs onto the highway. It also dangled over the City Avenue (route 1) ramp for eastbound traffic causing crews to close that ramp as well.
The cleanup took five hours. The driver was taken to Temple University Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
