Rapper Meek Mill Spreads Thanksgiving Cheer in North Philly

"I show love back for the support they've given me."

ABC 10 reports that rapper Meek Mill spent Tuesday night distributing Thanksgiving turkeys at the Martin Luther King Jr. Adult Center in North Philadelphia.

Hundreds of North Philadelphia’s less fortunate were getting free turkeys for their Thanksgiving holiday at what Mill calls his first annual Dreamchaser’s Thanksgiving.

He wanted to make sure that as many people as possible, in this case as many as 600, were going to have a meal this holiday.

“I show love back for the support they’ve given me, but you know this is like one of the easiest things we do during the day like turkeys and food and nothing involved. When it’s big, it’s about showing the kids you can come from nothing and become something, they can be in my position and help give back to the community anytime,” Mill said.

Hot New Hip Hop reported that Mayor Nutter offered official praise to the rapper:

“I applaud Meek Mill for taking the initiative to give back to his home town,” he said. “Gathering together with family and friends around a shared meal is one of the most important aspects of the holiday season. It is important to give thanks for all that we have, and I am proud that one of Philadelphia’s own is donating his time and resources to make sure families in our city can do just that.”
