Scott O’Neil Officially Replaces Adam Aron as Sixers CEO

It’s been coming for a couple of weeks now, but today Scott O’Neil officially replaces Adam Aron as CEO of the 76ers. Aron, however, has increased his ownership in the Sixers franchise and will remain on the team’s board of directors, along with becoming chairman and CEO of a newly established investment fund supported by some Sixers ownership group members. O’Neil is a sports business heavyweight, having worked as president of Madison Square Garden Sports, vice president of sales for the Eagles, and senior vice president for team marketing and business for the NBA, among others. The Sixers themselves, meanwhile, remain the only team in the NBA without a head coach. [Newsday]
