L&I Inspector Left Video Message Before Killing Himself
52-year-old Ronald Wagenhoffer, the L&I Inspector tasked with inspecting the site of the Market Street building collapse, left a video message on his cellphone before committing suicide Wednesday night.
“It was my fault. I should have looked at those guys working, and I didn’t. When I saw it was too late. I should have parked my truck and went over there but I didn’t. I’m sorry.”
Wagenhoffer inspected an adjacent site on May 14th, after a citizen complaint, as well as the site of the collapsed building, in February. He didn’t take any time off after last week’s collapse; a source told NBC 10, which obtained the video, that he thought it would help him cope to stick to his usual routine.
