Playdar: Britney Spears Debuts Smurfy New Single, ‘Ooh La La’
This weekend, the new Britney Spears song, “Ooh La La,” was leaked to the internet. The light, breezy number is set to roll during the end credits of the upcoming film Smurfs 2.
I take no shame in admitting I’m a huge Britney fan, but I wasn’t blown away the first time I listened to “Ooh La La.” When I gave it another go-round, though, the sugary track finally snagged me. It’s a cute, fun number that fits perfectly in a children’s movie. It’s also everything you’d expect from America’s favorite femme fatale — bouncing verses, acoustic guitars and plenty of synth production courtesy of producer Max Martin.
All these ingredients would make for a huge summer hit for Ms. Spears, but, as of right now, there is no official word on a radio release. But it was announced this week that Spears is in the studio hard at work on her eighth studio album with executive producer Will.i.am. Until then, all you Britney fans, “Ooh La La” will have to satiate your hunger.
P.S. A special shout out to Britney’s 2000 album, Oops!… I Did It Again, which turned 13 on May 16. Talk about feeling old!
