Dr. J To Cameo on The Office, Further Blurring Real and Fictional Pennsylvania

Julius Erving—the last man to bring this city the NBA championship it so desperately craves sort of wants—is making a cameo appearance on The Office tonight, helping the show reach its endgame by portraying a possible Philadelphia business associate for Jim, whose clearly trying to bust out of Scranton and the paper business at all costs. There’s much to love about Dr. J, but honestly: He’s going to have to be fantastic in order to surpass the near-silent comedic heights achieved on Parks and Recreation by former NBA player Detlef Schrempf.
