Hurricane Sandy Should Make PECO Ashamed of its Twitter Account

With the ominous Hurricane Sandy set to make landfall in the Philadelphia area, Twitter users might be looking to the Twitter account of PECO (aka Philadelphia’s electric company) for updates about service and advice for weathering the storm. Well, PECO may have an “army of thousands” ready to battle damage from Sandy, but what they don’t have is a serviceable (or even readable) Twitter account. Protected tweets? Following 46? Only 125 followers? And why is my electric bill so high? Even the Philadelphia Water Department is on Twitter during Hurricane Sandy.

A PECO spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
