Point Breeze Developers Cry Land Grab Over City’s Eminent Domain Move

The city is set to acquire dozens of properties in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia through eminent domain for affordable housing. Basically, the city says that it sees the value of the neighborhood on the horizon and wants to ensure that the people who live there will be able to afford to live there in the future. But, in doing so, they’re acquiring a bunch of lots owned by private developers. One of their big complaints is that the city owns thousands of vacant lots, but is set on acquiring additional lots before tending to the ones they already have. [Daily News]
