Someone Paid $36,000 for a Can of Beer at a Lancaster Auction

Over the weekend, a Lancaster County auction attracted collectors from all over the country. One collector paid $36,000 for a can of beer.

A “Gibbons Bock LP Cone Top” – billed as the “holy grail of Bock cans,” complete with metal cap – fetched the top amount, $36,000.

A pound of gold costs less – about $28,000.

Some cars, weighing a ton or more, are cheaper than that empty can.

A slew of other beer cans went for similarly staggering prices as more than 4,000 beer-related items were up for auction from a Chicago businessman’s collection amassed over 40 years. [Inquirer]
