Philly Police Get 200 Tips a Month Via Text Message

The Philadelphia Police Department has made a point of attempting to crack the city’s “stop snitching” culture by making it easier for people to submit tips. The department recently unveiled its “Text-a-tip” initiative and iWatch app to help put the people in a better position to let the authorities know what’s going on. Early numbers, though, show that the department is receiving more tips via its website/email than any other medium. People are texting in about 200 tips a month. [Technically Philly]
