Governor Christie Says Pols Are Grandstanding on Guns in Wake of Colorado Shooting
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says that it’s too soon to argue about gun control in the aftermath of the deadly shooting in Aurora.
I’m not going to get into the gun control discussion while these people are waiting to get buried,” Christie said after being asked about the incident three times in a morning news conference. “It might not offend you or bother you, but it offends me and bothers me.”
Christie accused other, unnamed politicians of using the shooting as an opportunity to grandstand on the issue of gun control. He did, though, say that he agrees with President Obama on the notion that the government should enforce current gun laws, as opposed to passing new ones. [Inquirer]
