Philly Police Make Arrest in Witness Slaying

Mayor Nutter expressed his discontent with a judge’s decision to reduce the bail of 23-year-old Jorge Aldea. Aldea had allegedly killed a man outside of the Caribe Mini Mart at Mutter and Westmoreland in 2011. After he was released on bail, Reyna Aguirre Alonso—a clerk at the store and a witness to the murder—was killed. Police have now arrested the 20-year-old associate of Aldea that they believe to be the trigger man in the execution of the witness. [Inquirer]
