28-Year-Old Drunk Driving Downington Mayor to Declare Candidacy for State Rep

Last August, we gave a Best of Philly Award to the then-27-year-old Mayor of Downingtown, Josh Maxwell. Then in September, police pulled Maxwell over and charged him with a DUI and careless driving, and we wondered if it might spell the end of his political career. But no. Maxwell, now 28, is expected to announce his candidacy tomorrow for state representative in the newly created 45th District. He just won’t be able to drive himself to campaign events until the spring, when his suspended license is restored.
