Father of Modern Batting Gloves Passes Away

In the spring of 1983 Irving H. Franklin teamed up with a one Michael Jack Schmidt to revolutionize the art of batting. Together, the pair introduced the modern batting gloves to Major League Baseball. Now, 28-years-later, the batting gloves are a staple in almost every dugout—it’s easier to count the players that don’t wear them than those that do. Mr. Franklin may have passed away, but his legacy will be a part of the game forever. [New York Times]
