Hold the phone—did you know you might soon be able to charge your cell phone just by walking around? New technology developed by researchers at the University of Wisconsin can do just that. Leveraging a principle called “reverse electrowatting,” in which the movements of tiny beads of liquid are converted into an electrical current, the device fits into your shoe and wirelessly sends a charge to your cell phone. The question is: What would you be willing to pay for it? The inventors are currently working on a plan to commercialize the technology.
