Jersey Shore Gone Wilde

Cast members of The Importance of Being Ernest reinterpret dialogue from the popular MTV series

As Tony Award nominations are announced this week (we’ll be live blogging the event on June 12 to discuss all of the gay-themed shows competing for theatre’s highest honor), we wanted to showcase one of the more amusing viral videos from the Roundabout Theatre Company’s “The Importance of Being Ernest,” a classic play by the oh-so-gay Oscar Wilde that’s back on Broadway after a 33-year hiatus.

There are several parts to the hilarious new web series, which spoofs MTV’s popular Jersey Shore with the sort of Wildean wit that’s made the play (and its author’s sarcastic style) stand the test of time. It actually even makes Snooki and the gang sound, well, smart. Almost.
