And, of course, Stephen Starr managed to make it hip and cool. Have a cask ale (more on those on page 109) by the fireplace while you’re waiting — and waiting — for a table. Once the hostess navigates you through the warren of rooms that is the 160-person pub and dispenses you at your table, go for oysters and English staples, all of which will make you question British grub’s bad rap.
