What To Do Tonight

Victor's Picks for Monday: The xx, Michaela Majoun, and Bueller? Bueller?

It’s a rainy day and a Monday. Karen Carpenter wouldn’t have known what to do with herself, and I don’t either. The xx at First Unitarian is sold out as is TLC’s Cake Boss at the Keswick. Michaela Majoun hosts Live At the Writer’s House at 7 p.m., which seems just sleepy enough for a day like this. And someone is trying to get me to go to a house play at 47th and Cedar, which sounded pretty interesting last night when the redhead was telling me about it… something about a room in a West Philly apartment converted into Antarctica… I think. But, truth be told, it will be hard to resist free beer and free popcorn at the Troc for  Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Which reminds me: what ever happened to Sloane Peterson? Think about it.

UPDATE: I’m an idiot. I completely forgot that the fantastic Brazilian sextet Garotas Suecas (it means “Swedish Girls” in Portuguese) is at Kung Fu Necktie. It’s an early show (8 p.m. supposedly) and only $10, so well worth it if you convince yourself to do anything other than go straight home for slippers and Scotch, which is actually sounding pretty good to me right about now.
