Our closets are already overflowing with black: Black sweaters, black dresses, black pants … So it’s not like this year’s black trend for fall is altogether foreign to us. But what is new and exciting and innovative this season is the spin designers have put on our favorite hue: They’ve funked it up and chunked it up — rolling out voluminous skirts and textured coats and rich, wooly cashmeres. We’re most psyched about bold trenches and look-at-me boots, like the Chanel silk and tulle trench ($5890 at Neiman Marcus) and Prada platform boots ($890 at Saks) here. Some other looks we can’t wait to try on: Vintage dresses with super-high heels, grey skinny-jeans with billowing sheer tops, and leggings under everything — from oversized cardigans to bejeweled cocktail dresses.
