Coffee chain Saxbys just opened their newest location on the campus of St. Joseph’s University yesterday morning. But at the new spot, student’s won’t just be customers — they’ll be running the place.

Like Saxbys is wont to do, they partnered with the Haub School of Business to implement its Experiential Learning Program at the 1,200 square-foot location in the Campion Student Center at 5600 City Avenue. It’s the chain’s eighth cafe in Pennsylvania.

Madison Dierolf, a fourth-year Food Marketing co-op major, will serve as its first Student Cafe Executive Officer; she spent two years working at Saxby’s location in Peddler’s Village before becoming SCEO. In addition to on-the-job experience managing staff and presenting financials to Saxbys higher-ups, SCEOs are paid and receive mentorship and academic credits for their work.

Hours at the new Saxbys on the St. Joe’s campus are 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
