Who’s Got the Best Christmas Decorations on East Passyunk?

See the sights (and drink the drinks) at the first-ever South Philly Christmas Crawl on Wednesday.

It’s the time of year when even black-hearted grinches like me feel a warm glow when strolling past a particularly well-decorated house or an illuminated Jolly Trolley goes by.

And nowhere in the city is holiday cheer more apparent than South Philly, where entire blocks unite to show off serious Christmas bling.

Well, several spots on East Passyunk Avenue are getting in on the action this year with the inaugural South Philly Christmas Crawl tomorrow night. It’s a tongue-in-cheek holiday decorating competition and bar crawl that will show you all the holiday bling (and seasonal libations) the strip has to offer.

The evening starts near Broad Street at Pistola’s Del Sur and ends at Garage at 9th Street, with stops at Le Virtu, Bing Bing Dim Sum, ITV, and Manatawny Still Works in between.

At the end, the spots will be evaluated in categories like illumination, flammability, staff participation, yuletide fuzziness, and — of course — “How South Philly Are You?!” A winner will be crowned at the end of the tour.

The tour starts at Pistola’s Del Sur at 6 p.m. and is set to wind up at Garage at 11 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, December 13th.
