This weekend, Fitzwater Bagels opened to adoring Graduate Hospital neighborhood throngs. The offshoot of South Street (and Chestnut Street Bagels) opened at 20th and Fitzwater, in the former home of Beauty Shop Cafe and the Gold Standard on Fitz. Over the weekend, the lines often stretched out the door and down the block to address what clearly seemed to be a carbohydrate shortage in the neighborhood.

The bagel shop doesn’t do any baking on site but receives multiple deliveries a day from the mothership on 3rd Street between South and Bainbridge Streets.

Bagels are $1.25 each, $3 with cream cheese. A baker’s dozen of bagels is $15. The shop, which has been decorated in seafoam green and subway tile also offers specialty sandwiches, as well as hot and cold-brewed coffee. There is also a Rise Coffee on a nitro tap.

Look for a grand opening party on the weekend of September 24th and 25th, complete with face painters, balloon artists, and other children friendly activities.

Fitzwater Bagels is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
