Armenian Restaurant Comes to Northern Liberties


On Friday, ApricotStone opened on Liberties Walk in Northern Liberties. The restaurant is owned by Ara Ishkhanian and chef Fimy Ishkhanian runs the kitchen. Ishkhanian is turning out a menu of seasonally inspired Mediterranean and Armenian cuisine.

 Ishkhanian grew up in Aleppo, Syria and came to the United States in 1981. In 1993 she opened Fimy’s Kitchen on the Main Line and added a second location in 1995. Now she’s bringing her cooking to Northern Liberties.

The menu of Mediterranean fare includes vegetarian and vegan options as well as kebabs, Mediterranean grilled cheese, Jakukh (tzatziki cucumbers, mint, yogurt) and signature dishes like:

  • Lahmajoun, Armenian pizza with meat & vegetable
  • Kibbeh Kufteh, bulgur wheat shells with beef, falafel, chickpeas and herbs – fried
  • Mujaddara, lentils & caramelized onions

The restaurant only has 21 seats and is located at 1040 North 2nd Street, Suite 601. ApricotStone will add patio seating will be available beginning in the spring.
