If you’re a loyal observer of National Ice Cream Month (seriously, it’s a real thing, the Internet says so) or you’re just looking for another excuse to indulge, you can’t miss the return of Reading Terminal Market’s Sidewalk Sizzle & Ice Cream Freeze. The festivities take place along Filbert street Saturday July 19th at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. 13 of the terminal’s merchants will be set up selling basically everything you could possibly be craving and the Blackbird Society Orchestra will be playing for your listening pleasure. But back to the food. You can expect; ribs, turkey legs, chicken and lamb kabobs (will there be mint ice cream on the side?), cajun burgers, grilled bratwurst, and grilled bologna sandwiches (woah, isn’t January  national meat month?) as well as shrimp tacos and shrimp kabobs. Since this is a celebration of all things frozen there will be plenty of ice cream. On the menu are classic ice creams, grilled fruit sundaes and grilled gelato sandwiches. There’s also an ice cream eating contest and ice cream shuffle board if you’re in the mood to add a little friendly competition to your celebration. Chances are there’s more ice cream involved so really everyone’s a winner.
