Feliz Crew Bringing Beast & Ale To Manayunk

Tim Spinner and Brian Sirhal are expanding their empire again. They’ve already got Cantina Feliz, La Calaca Feliz and Taqueria Feliz (in Fort Washington, Fairmount and Manayunk, respectively), and now they’re doubling-down on Manayunk with the opening of Beast & Ale, an “updated greasy spoon” going into the former Gemelli/Bisou space at 4161 Main Street.

They’re looking at a mid-June opening right now, with ex-La Calaca sous Matt Savastano in the kitchen. The menu will be a mix of comfort food and Philly classics, with a heavy emphasis on the former. Think gravy fries, hot roast beef sandwiches, salads, and roadhouse-style burgers.

The design? It sounds…interesting. Kind of like something halfway between a neighborhood diner and someone’s weird grandpa’s den. We’re talking vintage mirrors, taxidermied animal heads, banquette booths and a giant antler chandelier hung with Christmas lights. Because who doesn’t love that?

There’ll be a bar, sure (8 beers on draft, handcrafted cocktails and wines by the glass). The main dining room (downstairs) will seat 30, with a second-floor room able to handle an additional 25. There’s also going to be an outdoor deck (off the upstairs dining room) which will add another 25 seats. And they’ll be operating 7 nights a week, with weekend brunch and happy hours during the week.
