Rick Bayless Opening a Tortas Frontera at UPenn

Celebrity chef Rick Bayless is opening a Tortas Frontera at the University of Pennsylvania in early January. The restaurant will be located on the ground floor of the Arts, Research and Cultural House (ARCH) at 3601 Locust Street. The building has recently undergone a $20 million renovation.

This is the first university location of Tortas Frontera and also its first location outside of Chicago. The quick-service spot will be opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect Mexican standards like tortas, fresh guacamole, molletes (open-faced quick sandwiches), soups and cazuelas (hearty Mexican casseroles), salads and gluten-free options. A wide variety of grab-and-go options will also be available. Tortas Frontera will be convenient to the Penn community, accepting cash, credit, Dining Dollars, and Penn Cash.

Bayless has built a restaurant empire since opening his Frontera Grill in Chicago 25-years ago. Now he has nearly a dozen restaurants as well as a television show and cookbook.
