Sneak Preview: Feastival 2013

Okay, so it’s a long way off yet, but one can never start planning too early for one of the biggest food events of the season.

Feastival 2013 has officially been announced, and though details are a bit sparse (what with it being five months away and all), we do know a few things. Like that it will be kicking off on Thursday, September 12 at Pier 9 down on the waterfront. That tickets will be going on sale in May at phillyfeastival.com, and that they’ll be pricey, as they always are: $250 for general admission, $350 for VIP, which will get you through the doors an hour earlier than the hoi polloi.

Feastival is one of those things that’s always worth it if you have the scratch. It’s one of the biggest and best gatherings of chefs all year. The booze is always high-end and plentiful. Places like Federal Donuts and Questlove’s fried chicken business have debuted at the event and there are often things like half-naked people swinging from the rafters. And while we obviously don’t have a complete list of the more than 75 restaurants that’ll be in attendance this year, we do know a couple early participants. Such as…

10 Arts Bistro & Lounge, Audrey Claire, Bar Ferdinand, Barclay Prime, Belle Cakery, Bistrot La Minette, Brauhaus Schmitz, Buddakan, Capogiro Gelato Artisans, Charcoal BYOB, Continental Restaurant & Martini Bar, D’Angelo’s Ristorante Italiano and Lounge, Éclat Chocolate, El Vez, Ela, Farmer’s Road Drive Thru, Federal Donuts, Fergie’s Pub, Fette Sau, Fond, Fork, Fountain Restaurant, The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co., Healthy Bites, Izumi, Jones, La Calaca Feliz, La Colombe Torrefaction, Lacroix at the Rittenhouse, Le Bar at Le Bec Fin, Le Bec Fin, Le Virtu, Lotus Farm to Table, The Lounge at the Four Seasons, Matyson, Metropolitan Café, Miss Rachel’s Pantry, Modo Mio, Morimoto, Nectar, Noord, OIC, Opa, Oyster House, Paradiso, Parc, Percy Street Barbecue, Pizzeria Vetri, Pod, Pumpkin, Ranstead Room, Reading Terminal Market, Revolution House, Ristorante Panorama, Rouge, Route 6, Russet, Sampan, Sbraga, Shake Shack and the South Philly Tap Room. You know, just to name a few.

Sounds like the start of one helluva party to me.
