Three Bells for Barbuzzo

Craig LaBan teaches us a new word this week; Doyenne – A woman who is the most respected or prominent person in a particular field. The plural is apt for the team of Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran who have recently opened Barbuzzo, the crown of their 13th Street empire.

Most impressive, though, is Turney’s kitchen, which manages to effortlessly hit some current buzz-themes – artisan pizza, sharing plates, house-made charcuterie, bone marrow – without lapsing into the abstractions of molecular gastronomy.
