The Philadelphia Magazine/PABJ Summer Editorial Fellowship
Philadelphia magazine and the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists have partnered to create a summer fellowship, with the goal of increasing opportunities for journalists from diverse backgrounds.
Two fellowships are being awarded in 2020. Recipients will serve an 11-week fellowship (May 20, 2020–July 31, 2020) in Philadelphia magazine’s editorial department, getting hands-on experience with reporting and writing. Fellows will work about 29.5 hours per week and be paid a total stipend of $4,000 over the course of the summer.
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a rising college senior or have graduated from college within one year of the start of the fellowship
- Be a member of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists or be willing to join the organization upon the start of the fellowship
Preference will be given to candidates who live in or intend to pursue journalism careers in the Greater Philadelphia region.
On a rolling basis, PABJ leadership will contact select applicants for interviews and ultimately choose six finalists from among the applicant pool. Philadelphia magazine will interview all finalists, then select two fellows.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020.
