On Monday, Comcast announced the eleven startups taking part in its second annual Comcast NBCUniversal Lift Labs Accelerator, powered by Techstars. The 13-week program, which kicked off this week, gives companies an opportunity to work with product experts and advisors at Comcast, and eight out of the ten startups from last year’s class earned partnerships or pilot programs with NBCUniversal.

This year, hundreds of companies that focus on the next generation of connectivity, media, and entertainment applied from 46 different countries. One-third of the selected companies are lead by women, while six of the companies focus on sports and fitness. The four categories the companies represent are smart places, immersive and interactive experiences, digital-first customer engagement, and next-gen marketing.

The sports betting marketplace Sporttrade is the only Philly startup on the list.

“What stood out to us was the team,” said Danielle Cohn, executive director at Comcast. “[Sporttrade] has a great team and that is something we start with. The founders are strong and the tech is outstanding and can be applied to many areas. Comcast has been an investor in FanDuel since 2013 and we think this is a vertical that has great market potential,” she said.
