Mercedes-Benz is shaking things up with a new service that’ll likely entice Philadelphians who want luxury vehicles with no car ownership. The company just launched its Mercedes-Benz Collection, a subscription plan that allows users to switch between different vehicles to meet their lifestyle and needs. And right now, Philadelphia and Nashville are the only cities with access to the pilot program.

In Philly, subscribers can choose vehicles from the program’s top two tiers — Reserve and Premier — with the former priced at $1,595 per month and the latter at $2,995 per month. And users won’t be without choice: Available styles include everything from SUVs, sedans, coupes and cabriolets to roadsters and wagon models. Plus, each tier offers access to the company’s Mercedes-AMG models.

To get started, users pay a one-time activation fee of $495 and access service through the Mercedes-Benz Collection app and a local concierge. Subscribers can sign up for any type of vehicle within their tier with no mileage limitations, with cars will be delivered according to what they’ve outlined in their app profile.

If all that’s not enough to woo you, the subscription fee also covers insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance and vehicle maintenance. And as an added bonus, vehicles are delivered with a full tank of gas.

“We’re always looking to stay ahead of our customers’ needs and wants, as well as bring new people to the brand,” said Mercedes-Benz USA, president and CEO Dietmar Exler. “We know there is a market opportunity for people who would like the ability to move in and out of vehicles, depending on what they need or want at a particular point in time, or who don’t want to own a vehicle right now.”

And as to why Philly was chosen as one of two pilot locations, a spokesperson for the program told Philly Mag that the city is an “important market for Mercedes-Benz in terms of sales, dealer performance and customer and prospect demographics for this type of offering.”
