Report: Eagles Were Interested In Anquan Boldin

Does this mean the Eagles may target Josh Gordon?

Before Anquan Boldin signed with the Lions today, the Eagles “showed real interest” in acquiring the veteran wide receiver, according to Ian Rapoport. Adam Schefter first reported the three-time Pro Bowler plans to sign a one-year deal with Detroit.

If the Eagles tried acquiring Boldin, they could be interested in Browns receiver Josh Gordon as well. Gordon, who led the NFL in receiving yards in 2013 despite playing just 14 games, has been suspended in each of the last four seasons. He is set to miss the first four games of this year, and has a lengthy record of off-the-field problems dating back to college.

“Let’s say for example the Browns want to trade Josh Gordon,” John Clayton told 97.5 The Fanatic today. “What teams might be interested? Philly might be one of those teams that would consider it, because you’d be getting a great talent cheap and he could fit the outside spot.”

It’s unclear if the Browns are attempting to move on from Gordon, but his future with the franchise has been in doubt for months. The Eagles are clearly unsatisfied with their receiving corps, so they make look outside of their own roster for additional help.
