Name a better way to kick off the holiday season than shopping for a Christmas tree in a field while the sounds of the season serenade you. While the appeal of an artificial tree may draw you in (pine needles everywhere can be a drag), nothing beats coming home to the smell of pine and cedar. Sometimes, just getting out of the city limits can help gear you up for the holiday season and make you less stressed.
We’ve rounded up 20 farms in the Philadelphia area — in the ‘burbs and New Jersey — where you can chop down your very own Christmas tree. These farms all offer a wide variety of trees in basically any size you’d need — ranging in size from small three-footers to 20-foot monsters.
Want a fresh-cut tree, but aren’t into axe-swinging? Some farms will chop the thing down for you, shake out the excess needles and offer you a hot cocoa (or a doughnut) while you wait. Read on to find the best cut-your-own spot for you!
