If you’re a parent (especially to a newborn or toddler), you’re probably finding yourself a little more strapped for time for exercise. Thankfully, Philly has a number of fitness classes where you can bring your baby along with you. Check out these fitness classes around Philly where you can practice yoga, Pilates, strengthening your core, and more.

Be Well with Beth

The Class: Stroller Workout

Local dietitian nutritionist and fitness trainer Beth Auguste runs pop-up stroller workouts every Tuesday (9:30 a.m.) and Thursday (noon) at Columbus Square Park in Passyunk Square. Expect body weight training, with options to either hold your baby as you exercise or let them stay snuggled in the stroller, which you’ll use for balance from time to time. Click here to book your first class (which is free!).

Born Well

The Class: Mommy & Me Fitness

The core of Born Well’s offerings is to teach moms how to work out with their babies. Fitness classes are a blend of founder and mom Jennifer Hunt’s unique combination of yoga, Pilates, barre, and bootcamp. Currently, they’re offering in-person, outdoor sessions and virtual classes. Bonus: You get to choose where your outdoor workout takes place, as long as it’s within a 30-minute drive of Wallingford.

Fit4Mom

The Class: Stroller Strides

If you’re looking for something a little more intense, this hour-long workout features total-body conditioning — think strength training, cardio, and core restoration. And as the name implies, your baby will be with you every step of the way in a stroller. The Stroller Strides classes are currently hosted on the Schuylkill River Trail and behind the Art Museum at the Azalea Garden.

Fitness Alive

The Class: Baby & Toddler Bubbles

Ready to take the plunge and start teaching your baby how to swim? Baby & Toddler Bubbles is meant to help children ages five months to three years feel comfortable in the water and strive toward independent swimming, with mom or dad guiding along. 1425 Arch Street, Level B, Center City and 714 Reed Street, South Philly

Mama’s Wellness Joint

The Class: Baby & Me; Kids Yoga

Mama’s Wellness Joint currently offers three baby-friendly classes. Their Baby & Me gentle yoga class is great for new parents and kids who are at least six weeks’ old, but who haven’t learned how to crawl just yet. Kids Yoga sees yogis ages two through five years practicing “playful yoga shapes” and breathing techniques in 30 minutes, while Mama’s Movin’ is a 60-minute class for crawlers through four years old. (Parents are invited to join in on these sessions!) All classes are taught outdoors at their private garden in Olde Kensington. 1503 North Philips Street, Olde Kensington

Philly Dance Fitness

The Class: Mommy & Baby Yogalates

Combining yoga, Pilates, and holding your baby, this class focuses on muscles most affected by carrying and breastfeeding babies, like those in your back, shoulders, and chest. During class, babies will be held during certain exercises, and rest on or near your mat during others. Group sessions will be starting back up in September, but in the meantime, gather a group of at least three other parents and email Philly Dance Fitness to schedule the session.

Y2B Fit

The Class: BYO Baby Barre

This postnatal barre class works to rebuild muscles most impacted by pregnancy and delivery — mainly the core and pelvic floor. During class, you’ll be “wearing” your baby in a front carrier, so your kiddo should be a pre-crawler. Currently, Y2B Fit is offering this class once every other month, as well as in their on-demand library so you can take it any time you want!
