Baby-Friendly Fitness Classes Around Philadelphia
No more choosing between paying a sitter and hitting the gym.
Now that you’ve brought a new little one into the world, you’re probably more strapped for “me” time than ever. If finding a babysitter every time you want to hit the gym is proving to be impossible (and expensive!) then check out these fitness classes around Philly where you and your baby are totally welcome.
The Class: BYO Baby Barre
You’ve heard of BYO restaurants, but how about BYO baby fitness classes? Step up to the barre to regain strength in the pelvic floor, core, and glutes while spending time with your newborn — all you need to bring is a front carrier or sling and a receiving blanket. For a more low-key workout, check out Baby + Me vinyasa flow yoga classes, during which your baby will get to join in on some of the poses. 7101 Emlen St., Mt. Airy.
The Class: Mommy & Me
No need to find a sitter while you get fit, because this class is geared to new moms whose little ones haven’t started to crawl quite yet. Out of the newborn phase? Mama’s Wellness Joint also has a class for kids up to age four, plus family yoga for children ages four to eight. The Class: Stroller Strides
An hour long, total-body conditioning workout complete with strength training, cardio, and core restoration — all with your baby in tow! Instructors are dedicated to focusing on the individual goals of each mom and entertaining the kids with songs and activities. The Class: Mommy & Baby Yogalates
While this class isn’t currently on the schedule, if you can round up at least three friends, this studio will host this class for your crew. This “Yogalates” session will guide you through gentle stretches and Pilates exercises designed to build your strength and tighten your core. Don’t worry about disruptions — your instructor will make sure that you get the full workout even if you need to stop to feed or change your baby. No previous yoga or Pilates experience is required. The Class: Stronger After Pregnancy Group Training
Conquer postpartum stress and physical changes by participating in full body workouts with fellow moms. These classes target overall fitness by rebuilding your core and strengthening muscles that were weakened by childbirth. Babies are welcome, and no previous experience is necessary. The Class: Baby Bubbles
Ready to take the plunge and start teaching your baby how to swim? Baby Bubbles is the class for children to begin feeling comfortable and moving their bodies in the water in a supervised setting, with mom or dad holding on throughout the class.
