A “Retro-Inspired” Roller Rink Is Coming to Dilworth Park
Get moving on the new outdoor installation, opening April 30th.
Newly vaccinated and looking for a fun outdoor activity to try this spring? Starting April 30th, a new retro-inspired roller rink will be open at Dilworth Park.
Open through June 27th, the new Rothman Orthopaedics Roller Rink will feature a colorful overhead hula-hoop installation by Lucky Dog Studio and a checkerboard floor design. The hula hoops “fit right into our vision for Dilworth Park this summer: bright, whimsical and full of color,” says Center City District marketing and events manager Giavana Suraci.
Skating will be available in hourlong sessions from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for kids 10 and under, while skate rentals are $5 each (or you can bring your own and skip the rental fee). For groups of 10 or more people, admission is $12 a person. CDC COVID-19 guidelines will be in place throughout the park, including a mask requirement for vendors, staff and attendees.
It’s recommended that you book your session online in advance — and while you’re at it, you can also reserve lockers. Suraci expects sessions to sell out quickly on opening day and throughout the following weekend, since capacity is limited and the rink itself is smaller than Dilworth’s winter ice skating rink.
When you’re not skating, you can check out the nearby attractions, including Air Grille’s pop-up beer garden, which will serve burgers and fries and frozen cocktails, or the Dilworth Park Café. Alternatively, you can join in one of the outdoor Center City Fit classes led by Optimal Sport at Dilworth.
