Fall 2018 is apparently the time to open a rock climbing gym in Philly. First, there was the The Cliffs, which is coming to Callowhill. Then, there’s Reach Climbing and Fitness, which is headed to Bridgeport. And now, we’ve just caught wind that yet another rock climbing gym is set to open this fall. After taking a look at our crystal ball, it would seem 2019 will be the year of rock climbing here in Philadelphia — so get ready to chalk up!

Philadelphia Rock Gyms — which has locations in Oaks, Coatesville, East Falls, and Wyncote — plans to open their fifth gym in Fishtown. The new location will take over a part of the renovated 2424 Studios building for nearly 6,000 square feet of climbing space.

This new gym will boast all of the expected climbable accoutrements, including ample boulder problems and rope courses, in addition to a cardio and weight lifting area. On top of the fitness and climbing equipment, this new gym will be stocked with a private shower and a retail shop. Take a look at the plans for Philadelphia Rock Gyms Fishtown location in the rendering below:

Philadelphia Rock Gyms will be offering discounted rates for those who pre-order a membership online, which you can get the wheels turning on here. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements regarding the gym’s opening, which we hear will include free stuff and a party.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms is slated to open at 2424 Studios, 2424 East York Street, in Fall 2018.
