This Philly Bar Is Launching a 1K Beer Run in August

Misconduct Tavern is hosting a beer and burger-filled 1K (yep, that's less than a mile) to benefit CHOP.

Haven’t you heard? Marathons are overrated. 5Ks are so last year. The time has come for a new race distance: the 1K! At less than three-quarters of a mile (.62 miles to be exact), this is one race you probably won’t have to train for. Unless, of course, you need to practice consuming beer and then running — which, believe us, is a skill.

That’s right: Misconduct Tavern’s new race, the Misconduct Mile, which they’re launching with the help of Terrapin Beer Company, will include running and drinking beer. The “Mile,” which will take place on Saturday, August 4, at 11 a.m., is just 1K long, and anyone and everyone is welcome to register. The race costs $30, but all of the race’s proceeds are going to the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania.

The race starts at Misconduct Taverns’ Rittenhouse location (1511 Locust Street). Runners will be handed beers as they head to the start — because, you know, hydration — and as they cross the finish line in front of the Tavern’s Logan Square location (1801 John F Kennedy Boulevard), they’ll receive another complementary beer, a medal of participation, and a juicy burger from Misconduct’s menu. Are beers, burgers, and running your jam? Score your ticket here.
