The Kirk Cameron Fire Storm
Former “Growing Pains” star Kirk Cameron’s comments about homosexuality have sparked plenty of heated debate this week. “It’s unnatural,” Cameron said to Piers Morgan, explaining that being gay undermines society. And while we could write a book about how untrue these statements really are, a recent discussion on HLN got our attention when George Takei and Stephen Baldwin faced off over gay marriage, gay rights and how far religious freedom can go before it leads to outright discrimination.
“What we’re talking about is civil law apart from your faith,” says Takei to Baldwin, after he defended Cameron’s comments, saying the Born Again actor was simply standing up for the traditional nuclear family. “If you want respect for your faith, respect has to be mutual.”
