Source: Vinny Curry Not Being Shopped

A report earlier today from NFL Network stated that Eagles defensive lineman Vinny Curry was being made available to teams as the 4 p.m. trade deadline approaches.

According to a team source, the Eagles are not shopping Curry but have fielded phone calls from teams interested in the 25-year-old. A deal is unlikely.

Curry’s agent told Birds 24/7 back in September that he was open to a trade.

“Vinny’s main objective is to play and play at a high level,” said Kevin Connor.  “The question becomes, can that happen in Philly or do we need to facilitate an opportunity outside of Philly if it makes sense for all parties.”

That was at the beginning of the season when Curry wasn’t getting onto the field. He is now part of the Eagles’ defensive line rotation on game day. His number of snaps increased for five straight weeks, topping at 26 against the Cowboys, before falling down to 12 this week against a Giants team that stayed largely in a base formation.

The Neptune City, New Jersey native may be more of an ideal fit as an end in a 4-3, but seems to have found a niche as an interior pass rusher in Bill Davis‘ scheme. He has two sacks and five hurries through eight games.
