Former Mob Guy Opening a Restaurant

Angelo Lutz, the Kitchen Consigliere is opening a lunch and light dinner cafe in Collingswood. Lutz came to fame during a 2001 mob racketeering trial famously saying he was “a cook, not a crook.” The jury didn’t believe him and sent him to prison for 9 years. Now patrons will be able to judge for themselves whether he can cook.

Since completing his jail time he has appeared on a cooking show, the Kitchen Consigliere. He hopes to open his cafe in the former Texas Wieners by mid-October.

It’s not a gimmick, it’s the real thing. Powell lane is a new street in Collingswood. It’s right off Haddon Ave. Near the Wawa, and the new parking garage that is opening real soon on Atlantic Ave. I think he is gonna do good there.

    Tasteless, ugh.

He shoulda called it the Golden Buddha. That’s my singular memory of him: covered in gold paint and smiling on the front page of the Daily Dirt.
